Longhorn parents and students, please remember to spend time everyday on the course work that is being assigned. Although we are not meeting in our traditional building, educational activities will continue and students are expected to work daily on their courses. Students are also encouraged to spend 30 minutes a day of independent reading. Parents, we appreciate all of your support as we make every effort to make sure your child does not fall behind during this challenging time.
The Covid-19 Unified Command has announced today that all Panhandle Schools will remain closed for the remainder of the school year. Hyannis Area Schools will continue to offer educational enrichment activities through a remote, online platform throughout the remainder of school year. Graduation ceremonies will be impacted by this closure and will be postponed to a later date after consultation of all parties involved. It has been determined by the Panhandle Covid-19 unified command that all Nebraska Panhandle schools will close until May 1.; this includes Hyannis Area Schools.
Announcements regarding any activities scheduled after May 1 will be made at a later date. Please continue to view School web page and Facebook page regarding updates on this quickly changing situation.
Students are encouraged to stay current on their enhancement activities and continue to communicate with teachers on a daily basis through email.
This is a very difficult situation, but together we will make it the best it can be for us. Parents are reminded to please make every attempt to keep children isolated according to CDC, Panhandle Public Health, and the Governor’s recommendations.
Effective Monday, March 16 all NSAA activity practices are suspended until Monday, March 30 and all NSAA activity competitions are suspended until Thursday, April 2. These suspensions may be extended should the conditions warrant.
Member schools and student-participants are expected to adhere to the NSAA Constitution & Bylaws and activity manuals during this time.
As more information becomes available, official updates will be posted on the NSAA website and the NSAA social media platforms.
Upon the recommendation of Panhandle Public Health, the Center For Disease Control and state Health Care Officials Hyannis Prom that was scheduled for Saturday,March 21st has been postponed indefinitely. School administration will continually reassess the situation and work to reschedule the event at a later date when Health Care Experts recommend to return to normal activities.

At the high school basketball games in Mullen on Friday, Mullen will be doing a Burger Bash and Rally for Rusty game. All of the proceeds from the Burger Bash and concessions will go to help Rusty and family with expenses incurred during his battle with cancer. There will be free will donation buckets at the gate and throughout the stands. Miskos Sports has donated a basketball that all of the kids and coaches will sign and be auctioned off at the end of the boys game.

NEBRASKA VS WISCONSIN TICKETS
We are selling raffle tickets for this weekend's home Husker Game vs Wisconsin. 1 Ticket for $10 or 3 Tickets for $20. All money will go to the Activities Department. See Mr. Hawk or any member of the One Act team to purchase tickets.
Parents of students in grades 7-12, please return allergy forms to the office by Friday, November 15th.
On Monday, November 11th, at 2pm there will be a Veterans Day program in the gymnasium at the High School. All are welcome!

Due to elementary teachers taking part in professional development for selecting a new reading curriculum, ELEMENTARY STUDENTS WILL NOT HAVE SCHOOL ON OCTOBER 28TH AND 29TH. 7th-12th grade will have school as normal.

Due to predicted cold temperatures and high winds, the schedule for Friday's games against Cody-Kilgore has been changed. The schedule will be as follows:

Due to weather, the homecoming parade scheduled for today, October 4th, has been canceled. There will be a pep rally starting at 2pm in the gym. Community and parents are welcome to attend. Buses will run following the pep rally.
Just a reminder...the homecoming parade will start at 1:30pm tomorrow and a pep rally at the windmill on Main Street will follow the parade. Buses will run at approximately 3:00pm.
This Friday, October 4th, we will celebrate parents night for football players before the football game and parents night for cheerleaders at halftime of the football game.

On October 4th we will be having a homecoming parade and pep rally starting at 1:30pm. The parade will go past the courthouse and end after the windmill on main street. There will be a pep rally at the windmill following the parade. BUSES WILL RUN FOLLOWING THE PEP RALLY AT APPROXIMATELY 3:00PM.
Please make arrangements to have your K-12 child picked up after school at 2:00pm on Friday's (Buses will run as they usually do on Fridays). The faculty and staff have professional development and there will be no adult supervision in the building. Students will not be allowed to stay in the building or playground after school is dismissed at 2:00pm.
There will be a booster club meeting Monday night at 6 PM.
Until further notice, we will no longer be live streaming events. The technical and staffing needs have proven to be too difficult to provide a quality broadcast. However, we are working on developing a better experience. If you are interested in helping broadcast home events, please let us know.

We are planning to broadcast tonight's games against Arthur. Go tohttp://www.disteleven.org/ and click on "Live Stream" to watch. HOWEVER, if you are planning on coming to the football game, we HIGHLY recommend bringing bug spray.
Parents, when we host events it will be our expectation that students (both elementary and secondary) be seated and watch the game. Students will not be allowed to roam freely throughout the facility and will be continually directed back to the gym to sit by their parents or at least a watchful eye of their parents.
The snow is not flying...yet. However, we will be testing our alert system on Monday, August 26th at 10am. If you do not receive a message, would like removed, or need to change a phone number, please let the us know.

School starts tomorrow, August 15th, at 8am!
