On February 20, the Longhorns traveled to Sutherland, for what could have been the last game of the year, against South Platte. The Longhorns started out strong gaining an early lead on the Blue Knights. The Blue Knights weren’t ready for their season to be over yet though, and after a three pointer they went into the half trailing by only four points to the Longhorns, with a score of 16-20. The Longhorns held strong, and ended up winning with a final score of 41-32. Gunnar Johnson was the leading scorer and rebounded for the night.
The very next day the Longhorns played the Arthur Wolves, in what would be their last game of the season. The wolves got an early lead, but the Longhorns got right back into the game in the first half with a score of 12-15 at one point. After Hyannis’ run the Arthur wolves took a commanding lead, and didn’t look back. The final score was 37-58, which sent the Wolves to the sub-district finals. The Longhorns had a final record of 2-16, matching last year’s record. Gunnar Johnson was the leading scorer and rebounder of the night.
