UNL 2013 Math Day consist of a Probe I test and a Math Bowl. The Hyannis Math Bowl team consisting of Tanner Holthus, Frannie Young, Chelsea Nollette, and alternate Isa Safarik took 2nd Place in Class VI Math Bowl Competition. There were 22 teams participating in the Math Bowl Challenge. Hyannis mathletes beat Bertrand by a score of 6-1 in their first head to head round. Hyannis then beat Shickley in the tournament by a score of 4-2. After the noon break Hyannis shut out Kenesaw by a score of 3-0 vaulting Hyannis into a guaranteed 3rd place in the compettion. PLAN Test Results On November 6, 2013 the sophomores took the PLAN test at Hyannis High School. The purpose of this test is to predict how students will do on the ACT test. The test covers the same subjects that ACT test does. When students receive their results they see which area they are the strongest in and the areas in which they need to improve. The important thing about the sixth week of school is we studied sunflowers. We dug up two sunflowers from the garden the first graders planted last spring. We laid the sunflowers on the sidewalk and measured them with first graders. We had to be careful to not hurt someone's head. One sunflower was 2½ first graders tall. The other sunflower was two first graders and a boot! We cut the heads off the sunflowers and saved the seeds inside. Each person took a leaf from the plants.
